The Story We Had

A chapter I'll always remember.

This is not a request for anything.

7 August 2024

This Is Where It All Started

This is where it all started.

And maybe, somewhere along the way, you started regretting it.

Mid-August 2024

Then We Met Properly.

Then college happened, and suddenly the person I had been talking to online was someone I got to see in real life.

The post you shared in August

August 2024

I Remember This One.

You had posted this picture on Instagram, and I remember thinking you looked really beautiful.

I didn't know where this was going yet.

September 2024

Freshers.

And then there was Freshers.

You looked ridiculously good that day.

I think I fell for you a little more that day.

Garba night

September 2024

Garba.

And how could I forget your Garba look?

I fell for that one too.

October 2024

October.

Somewhere around here, it stopped being just a crush.

We don't have a photograph from that train journey. But I remember it anyway.

That was when I realized what I felt for you wasn't just a passing crush.

25 January 2025

And Then We Became Us.

Our Story

7 August 2024

The First Message

The first Instagram conversation. This is where it all started.

Mid-August 2024

College

We met properly for the first time.

August 2024

That Photograph

The picture you posted that caught my attention.

September 2024

Freshers

The day I fell for you a little more.

September 2024

Garba

Your Garba look. I fell for that one too.

October 2024

The Train Journey

There is no photograph from it. I remember it anyway. That was when I realized it wasn't a passing crush.

25 January 2025

We Became Us

The relationship became official.

Late February / early March 2025

A Mistake I Made

I smiled while looking at a photograph of a female friend, and it upset you. I shouldn't have done that.

20 April 2025

A Very Good Day

We spent genuinely good time together. It stayed with me.

May 2025

Ranchi & Patratu

We travelled together and made some really good memories.

June / July 2025

Something I Should Have Handled Differently

I repeatedly mentioned a girl, and it made you uncomfortable. I should have been more aware of that.

Chennai

The Medical Trip

We travelled for your ankle appointment. Mentioning a girl before and during the trip affected the mood. Despite that, we made very good memories — the beach, the photographs, being somewhere new together.

September / October 2025

Boundaries I Failed to Set

A female friend shared personal things with me and I failed to establish appropriate boundaries. It became serious and reached breakup territory. I eventually blocked those people and realized my mistake. You forgave me.

October / November 2025

Durga Puja

That period was good between us.

November 2025

Diwali

A very good period. Good memories and outings.

January 2026

Shortly Before Our Anniversary

[EXACT_JANUARY_2026_INCIDENT] — you forgave me for it.

January 2026

Good Memories

We also made some of our best photographs and happiest memories in this period.

7 February 2026

Before Valentine's Week

I didn't send something to you on time because I was thinking about something else. It upset you.

March / April 2026

Ups and Downs

I discussed money and financial matters in a sensitive situation. My intention wasn't to hurt you, but I shouldn't have handled it that way.

April 2026

Your Family Situation

I reacted insensitively to your family situation despite knowing how sensitive it was.

13 April 2026

My Birthday

You were upset with me and you still stayed and made my birthday special.

8 May 2026

The Day I Should Have Stayed

You had recently started your period, had a fever, were weak and dizzy, and had an exam. We argued while returning to your room. I left instead of staying and supporting you. You broke up with me afterward.

After 8 May 2026

Trying

I apologized and asked for two months to work on myself. There were still ups and downs, including blocking and unblocking.

Late July / early August 2026

Good Time Again

We spent good time together again. We watched Spider-Man.

Around 10 August 2026

The Online Assessment

You were sitting beside me. A technical issue happened. After my part ended I spoke about my own concerns before checking how you were feeling. It came across as if I was blaming you. I didn't intend that, but it was insensitive.

Around 21–22 August 2026

The Last One

I showed and talked about doing a favour for another girl, and the way it was portrayed made it look as though I cared about her personally. My intention was project and group related. You blocked me before I could explain. I became angry and said hurtful things. I realized immediately that it was wrong, and I couldn't reach you to apologize.

Now

Where This Sits

I am blocked. I don't want to go around that boundary.

The Things That Didn't Look Important at the Time

Some of my favourite memories weren't big days. They were completely ordinary moments that became special simply because you were there.

Little Things That Are You

The things I noticed because I was paying attention.

  1. 01The Way You Smile Around Me

You continuously smile when you're with me.

I don't think you ever realized how much that smile made ordinary moments feel special.

  2. 02The Way You Make Me Feel

The way you make me feel good just by being around me, without even realizing you're doing it.

  3. 03How Much You Love Taylor

The way you love Taylor Swift.

Somehow, there was always a Taylor song, a lyric, or some little reference that felt completely you.

  4. 04The Way You Take Care of Me

The way you take care of me, sometimes without making a big deal out of it.

  5. 05The Way You Push Me to Be Better

You always tried to make me a better version of myself.

Not by changing who I was, but by making me want to do better.

  6. 06The Way You Carry Yourself

The way you carry yourself in every single attire.

Somehow, you could make completely different looks feel completely like you.

  7. 07The Way You Handle Difficult Things

The way you gracefully handle difficult situations in your life.

I don't think I ever told you enough how much I admired that strength in you.

  8. 08The Way You Still Show Up

The way you could put our personal differences aside when I needed you.

Even when things between us weren't okay, you still knew when I needed you.

Things I'll Remember

You probably don't remember every little thing.

I do.

  1. Studying MFCA Together

Studying MFCA with you was supposed to be about the studies, but it was so hard for me to concentrate whenever you were around. I kept looking at you instead of the notes.

  2. When You Were Sick

When you were sick and had to go to the hospital, I remember being genuinely worried about you. All I wanted was to be there and take care of you in whatever way I could.

  3. Bowling

When we went bowling, I was continuously trying to impress you and finding excuses to talk to you. Looking back, it was honestly hilarious how obvious I probably was.

  4. Your Garba Look

How could I forget your Garba look? You looked absolutely stunning. And then you unknowingly ignored me and I got upset. Looking back at it now, that's actually pretty funny.

  5. The Train Journey

And then there was that train journey. You were so close to me, and somehow that whole journey made me fall for you even more. I don't think I came back from that journey feeling the same about you.

  6. Our First Date

Our first date. I still remember putting that anklet on your foot and deliberately kissing your feet. It was such a small moment, but I remember how special it felt to me. One of those moments that I know I'll carry with me.

  7. Our First Trip

Our first trip. The scooty issue, all the photographs, and me somehow getting scammed over the photo cost. There was chaos, but somehow that made the whole thing even more memorable.

  8. Our First Anniversary

Our first anniversary. And then some guy tried talking to me and you got scared. Shit, that was funny. One of those completely random moments that somehow became a memory.

  9. My Birthday

My birthday. I was genuinely so happy because of you. You made me feel special at a time when I really needed it, and after such a long time, that feeling meant more to me than I probably ever told you. I'll never forget it.

Chapters

Nine rooms you can walk into.

13 April 2026

My Birthday

I knew you were upset with me, and yet you still chose to be there. You made me feel genuinely special that day, and after a long time, I remember being that happy because of you.

I'll always be grateful for that.

Thank you.

The Part I Can't Romanticize

If this is supposed to be an honest memory of us, I can't only show you the beautiful parts.

First date

You said no. I should have respected that immediately. I didn't. That was wrong.

The friend's photo

I smiled at a photograph of a female friend in front of you. It was careless and it hurt you. There is no explanation that makes it better.

A girl

I repeatedly mentioned her, and it made you uncomfortable. I kept doing it after I knew that.

Boundaries

A female friend shared personal things with me and I failed to establish appropriate boundaries. That was mine to handle, and I didn't handle it.

Money and family

I handled sensitive matters insensitively. I talked about money in a situation that deserved care, and I reacted badly to your family situation while knowing how sensitive it was.

8 May

You were unwell, weak, dizzy, had a fever, were on your period, and were already struggling. I left you instead of staying and supporting you. There isn't a clever explanation for that. I should have stayed.

The online assessment

I spoke about my own concerns before checking how you were feeling, and it landed as blame. I should have asked how you were first.

The last conversation

You blocked me before I could explain. I became angry and said things I should never have said. Being hurt or angry does not excuse that.

The Trust We Lost

I wish you could have trusted one thing about me: that I never wanted anything bad for you.

There were misunderstandings between us, and I genuinely wish you had been able to trust what was in my heart.

But I understand now that trust isn't built from what someone says is in their heart. It is built from what they repeatedly do.

When my actions gave you reasons to doubt me, I cannot blame you for eventually doubting me.

Maybe if that trust had remained, some misunderstandings wouldn't have grown into bigger problems.

But I understand why that trust became difficult.

I wish I had been the kind of person whose actions made trusting me easy.

What I Lost

You remembered things I forgot I had told you.

You stayed beside me even when you were upset with me.

You made my birthday special even when things between us weren't okay.

You became part of some of the happiest ordinary days of my life.

I lost someone incredibly special.

The Photograph Room

All of it, in one place.

This isn't me asking you to come back.

I know I've said sorry before.

I know I've promised to change before.

I know words don't carry much weight when actions haven't supported them.

So I'm not asking you to trust me again.

I'm not asking you to forgive me.

I'm not asking for another chance.

I'm not asking you to reply.

You are allowed to walk away.

I want you to be completely certain about something.

I will respect your decision.

I won't chase you.

I won't repeatedly contact you.

I won't pressure you.

I won't manipulate you.

I won't try to make you feel guilty.

I won't try to force my way back into your life.

You don't owe me anything.

More than anything, I want you to be happy.

I want you to feel safe.

I want you to be loved properly.

I want you to be with someone who makes you feel secure instead of making you question where you stand.

Even if that person isn't me.

For whenever you remember us.

The last photograph

Whatever happens from here, I'm grateful that I got to know you.

I'm sorry for the ways I hurt you.

Thank you for the ways you loved me.

Thank you for the memories.

Thank you for making parts of my life beautiful.

I hope life is kind to you.

Take care, Aditi.
